As far as Disney theme parks go, Epcot is the pinnacle of dining. It really is the park with the best food, as far as I am concerned. With all of the 11 pavilions of the World Showcase having at least one restaurant and a couple of additional dining options in Future World, the sky is the limit! I have eaten at a handful of the restaurants, so I will share my thoughts on them here.
Les Chefs de France

I was not expecting to love my meal here as much as I did. I ate here in October 2021 with a party of three adults and five kids. All three adults order the filet, and all five kids ordered the cheeseburger, so I don’t have much variety in my review, but both entrees received glowing reviews. The meal started with bread service, a basic baguette with butter.

We all skipped the Prix Fix meal option and just stuck with ordering entrees. Our filets were perfectly cooked, the potatoes were creamy, the green beans were the perfect amount of crunchy, and the gravy/sauce was perfection. This was one of the best meals I have ever had at Disney.

All of the kids loved the cheeseburger. It looked like a basic smash burger served with “frites” aka french fries. It was a basic kid friendly meal offered in a fairly upscale restaurant environment. It was a win win!

Our server here was top notch, and I have no complaints. Just give it a try.
La Hacienda de San Angel

As a true lover of Mexican food, I was so excited to eat here back in September 2019, and it did not disappoint. The food was great, but the big selling point was the wall of windows facing the water and giving a full view of the fireworks show! They even piped in the music. Our reservations were at 8:00 pm which was perfect for fireworks viewing!
The meal started with tortilla chips and salsa, and of course we added an order of queso because what is Mexican food without cheese dip?!

I do believe they have changed their menu since my last dining experience here, but I ordered a chicken entree, and my friend ordered a steak option. Of course, we shared with each other so we could get a taste of both, and they were both good!

All of the entrees were served with a family style portion of rice and beans. This was a delicious compliment to the meat and veggie entrees we already had.

It was SO MUCH FOOD, but…we also shared a dessert! The chocolate lava cake was quite tasty and a nice way to finish the meal while enjoying the fireworks!

This is another restaurant that I very highly advise, not just for the food but also for the show if you time your reservation right.
Teppan Edo

This is Disney’s version of a Japanese hibachi restaurant. I was not blown away, but it was good and it’s probably pretty safe for families, adult only groups, and large groups wanting to eat together.
This meal starts with a salad, but unlike most of the experiences I have had at places like Mikata’s or Shoguns, the salad did not have the sweet creamy dressing. Instead it had a darker more vinaigrette dressing that I didn’t like as much, but I am a BIG fan of the normal sweet dressing. The mixed greens were fresh and quite tasty though.

I ordered my standard hibachi order of chicken and shrimp, and it was very good, but the steamed rice instead of fried rice was a disappointment. They do not do fried rice. Bummer. But they did give the standard dipping sauces, both the ginger and the yum yum.

I wasn’t blown away, but it was good!
Le Cellier

Located in the Canada pavilion, Le Cellier Steakhouse is a signature restaurant with a reputation of being truly excellent. Personally, I was underwhelmed and found that my filet from Les Chefs de France back in 2021 was superior to the filet I had here in February 2024, but I will get to that. The meal starts with bread service and some maple butter which was truly fantastic. I ordered the iconic Cheddar Cheese Soup which was the true highlight of the meal for me.

I enjoyed this meal as a party of three adults, and much like Les Chefs de France, we all ordered the filet, but with a variety of sides. One ordered an appetizer salade that received a good review.

We also all ordered our filets cooked to medium doneness, but none of the three steaks looked to be cooked to the same doneness. I would say there was one medium rare, one medium and one medium well.

Recently, I was talking with a repeat Disney client who has eaten here three times. He said once it was a disappointment, but twice it was superb. I don’t think I dined here on a superb night. So consistency could be an issue. Also worth noting, “les cellier” literally means “the cellar” so this place is kind of in a cellar. It is a bit underground, so the cell service and wifi were spotty. If you’re hoping to snag a Lightning Lane or move something in your Disney app, you may not have much success here. For being on the higher end of the dining scale price-wise, I’m not sure I’d do this one again.
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
This is hands down my least favorite restaurant in Epcot, and honestly one of my least favorite Disney dining experiences ever. The biggest draw to this restaurant, located in the Norway pavilion, is the princesses. This is one of only two places in all of the Disney World where you can dine with princesses, and this is the most affordable one, with Cinderella’s Royal Table being the other must pricier option. Personally, after my own experience, I only send my clients here for breakfast as it is by far the “safer” option.
Akershus is an odd combination of buffet, menu, and family style service. The buffet is a “cold buffet” of mostly salads, meat, and cheeses that serves as the appetizer course of the dinner. You are welcome to fix your own plate and go back as much as you want.

For your entree, you order from a menu which is largely Scandinavian options…which I learned is not my favorite cuisine. My family ate here way back in August 2018, and I ordered the Kjottkaker (Norwegian Meatballs) while my husband ordered the combo plate that is a smaller serving of each of the three main entrees: salmon, meatballs, and a brat of some sort. I do not see this combo option on the menu currently. Neither of us were impressed.

My kids opted for the very safe and kid friendly pizza!

Dessert is served family style and is marketed as “an assortment of Norwegian-inspired desserts” called The Royal Chef’s Dessert Plate. Ours consisted of a chocolate mousse cake item, a fruit crumble with ice cream, and a rice pudding with a berry sauce. They were all meh…again, nothing was remarkable.

I am not sure much has changed in the more than 6 years since I’ve eaten here. If you want a more affordable princess dining option, try breakfast here. It is a family style offering of all pretty basic safe breakfast foods that most people can find enjoyable.
Via Napoli

We will end on a high note! Near the back of the Italy pavilion, you will find Via Napoli. Much like Mexican food, Italian food seems like pretty safe family faire, because almost everyone will eat either pizza or pasta. Via Napoli is known for their pizza, particularly since it is cooked in the ovens named after Italian volcanoes!

But in a slight breech of etiquette, I did not order pizza. (I have a gluten intolerance, and at the time of my dining here in September 2019, they did not offer gluten free pizza.) My dining companion and I both ordered pasta, and I found it to be quite delicious and an enormous portion!

I also ordered a flourless chocolate cake for dessert which was really yummy! I think I took one singular bite of it in the restaurant, packaged it up in a to go box, and ate in in bed in my room later that night!

Via Napoli is another safe option that I feel confident sending families to year after year.
This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to dining at Epcot. As I continue to work my way around the restaurants here, I will keep you all posted.
